This glass roof was planned to cover an old bathroom of the Roomer in Badenweiler (south-western Germany). The structural system of this roof is a cylindrical grid shell with dimension in plan of 40x68 m. The height of the roof is about 8 - 9 m. The shell is stabilized in the transverse direction by cable truss girder with a spacing of 4.68 – 8.19m. The upper chords of those girders are steel-T-beams, which integrated in the shell plan. On the western and eastern ends of the roof a glass facade was arranged. The facade has the dimension of about 8 m height and 30 m span. The glass of the facade are supported by back anchored pretensioned cable net, with a spacing of 1.3x 1.3/2.0m. The Scope of Dr. Saad was to carry out a full design of the roof and the façade including the foundation in all stages from concept up to the final design and workshop drawings and site supervision.
